Director: Sean Hackett
Initially formed for the 2014 Beethoven’s 9th concert, the orchestra’s 60+ member chorus will once again take the stage during the 2017-2018 season for Verdi’s Requiem on April 27, 2018. The concert will also feature the choruses from Dickinson College and Elizabethtown College.
All singers in the chorus will be auditioned, just as the instrumentalists in the symphony are auditioned. Members of the college choirs (Dickinson College & Elizabethtown College) that are partnering with us have previously auditioned for their respective directors. Singers from non-auditioned choirs will be asked to audition for us (information can be found below). We will, however, invite singers already singing in auditioned choirs to join the symphony chorus with only a recommendation from their ensemble’s director.
Singers will be auditioned for intonation, general musicianship, and ability to blend with the chorus. Auditions will be held in early 2018. Singers will be given one minute to vocalize, or sing an excerpt of a prepared piece, as a final warmup and to demonstrate range and vocal quality. They will then sing both Verdi segments with the recording. There is no sight-reading or other requirements. There is no cost to audition or perform.
More audition information coming soon.
