The Hershey Symphony Orchestra invites the community to celebrate Independence Day A DAY EARLY with our 15th annual free concert on the lawn of Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
The orchestra’s performance on Tuesday, JULY 3, 2018, entitled, “An American Salute” begins at 7:30 p.m.
Complimentary water and ice cream will be provided by the Medical Center. Food and drink for purchase will be offered by food trucks parked along the perimeter of the crowd.
“It is a holiday tradition for our musicians and the community to celebrate the birth of our country with this annual concert on the lawn of the Medical Center. We’ve decided to perform on Tuesday, July 3rd since it allows us to use the 4th as a rain date. Plus, it gives our audience a chance to sleep in on the 4th and picnic all day long, as opposed to getting up early for work on the 5th.” said Hershey Symphony Orchestra Executive Director Paul Metzger.
The first half of the concert will feature selections from films, Broadway and light classics,. For the second half of the concert, the Orchestra will present “A Salute to America,” accompanied by Hershey Symphony Orchestra vocalists. These selections will celebrate America and provide a special tribute to the military.
The concert is under the direction of Dr. Bob Sproul and is sponsored by the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey Resorts, Sutliff Chevrolet and Hershey Symphony Orchestra. Parking is free and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. A freewill offering will be taken to benefit the Orchestra.
