Hershey Symphony Orchestra Celebrates Independence Day with Free Concert at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center

The Hershey Symphony Orchestra invites the community to celebrate Independence Day a day early with the 18th annual free concert on the lawn of Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. The orchestra’s performance on Friday, July 3, 2022, entitled, “An American Salute” begins at 7:30 p.m.  In the case of rain, the concert will be held the following evening on July 4th (rain date).

Complimentary water and ice cream will be provided by the Medical Center. Food and drink for purchase will be offered by varied food trucks parked along the perimeter of the crowd.  “It is a holiday tradition for our musicians and the community to celebrate the birth of our country with this annual concert on the lawn of the Medical Center,” said Hershey Symphony Orchestra Executive Director Paul Metzger.

The first half of the concert will feature songs from the silver screen including “Back to the Future”, “James Bond”, “Pirates of the Caribbean”, and the best of John Williams. For the second half of the concert, the Orchestra will present “A Salute to America”. These selections will celebrate America and provide a special tribute to the military.  The concert is under the direction of Dr. Bob Sproul.  Parking is free and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. A freewill offering will be taken to benefit the Orchestra.
